I spent all of about 4 minutes in North Korean territory back in 1985 when I went on the JSA tour while I was stationed at Camp Casey.

How close was this bridge to Camo Libertybell and the JSA area. I was stationed there as we ping ponged with the 1/38th, I was in the1/9th Infantry 2nd Infantry Division, (2nd to None that is!) in mid July of 1969 thru mid September of 1970.

If that North Korean's superiors had caught him sleeping, he would have been tortured and killed along with his family. So, in reality, he actually probably did him a favor with that little prank. Way to act like a braindead civilian though, popping off even though you don't actually know anything.

You had to step over the demarcation line. This was no problem for the DPRK?
  • Inundated area, B3Fiend wrote 14 years ago:
Do you have any reference that this is used for this purpose? It looks like common rice fields, and no apparent nearby water bodies to inundate it with.

Myself and several others from the 2nd Platoon of the UNC JSF, earned the nickname "Lt. Zilka's Mad Dogs who patrol the JSA at night with big sticks" one night after doing our usual walking guard patrol at night. We heard some snoring coming from KPA#2, so we snuck up to it and then pounded on the walls with our axe handles.

There is - I believe - a bounty on that flag. Anyone who gets that flag and delivers it to the Blue House in Seoul gets 500,000 United States Dollars. Any takers?

Except for being a little gassy, he was a wonderful man. His flatulence had hallucinogenic qualities that inspired a nation.

I believe this is also referred to as the "Peace Museum", and the former village of Panmunjeom was located across the road on the south side.
  • Signing Pavillion, joseph c (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
yes, though one needs to be part of an organised tour. It is approximately the size of a village school, consisting mostly of press snippets about the tree-cutting incident.
  • Signing Pavillion, RICH (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
CAN ONE VISIT THIS "MUSEUM" ?

Who built & paid for the building, furniture, and etc? Is the electricity for the building from South Korea or North Korea?
